Machines talking to themselves

The Internet Of Things 101

Sensors are getting ever smaller and power efficient, communication becomes ever cheaper, computation is becoming ever more distributed. With these observable trends it is time to revisit some utopian and dystopian visions of ubiquitous computing and see how they stack up against what we witness developing.

With Ubiquitous Computing and the Internet of Things, the global network is becoming even more pervasive. This calls for new methods of interaction under the new paradigms.

This talk aims to outline the Internet of Things, give some theoretical context to the observable developments and lay out possible future scenarios.

Because it isn’t about the internet-connected fridge after all.
